43,000 households can now pick up Watts

During 2020, Aalborg Supply and the energy platform Watts have worked to connect 43,000 households to the app. Now the work is over, and in the future the many Aalborgers can look forward to becoming even wiser about both electricity, water and heat consumption.

When heat readings are to be carried out at the district heating customers in Aalborg Forsyning in the future, it is done automatically with new remotely read meters, which make it easier for customers to keep an eye on consumption and thus avoid heat waste – and Watts will help with this:

"Aalborg Forsyning was looking for a tool that could help customers keep an eye on their consumption and motivate them to set their heating systems appropriately. With Watts, we offer what they were looking for, and now no less than 43,000 daily can follow their heat consumption", says Function Manager Per Madsen.

Aalborg Forsyning is pleased with the new collaboration with Watts and especially the effective communication with customers is one of the many new benefits of the use of the energy platform.

This is what customer manager Lars Jensen and Supply Manager Jesper Møller Larsen tell industry magazine Teknik &Miljø:

"Watts is very user-friendly and always at your fingertips. In addition to showing actual energy consumption, in conjunction with the budget, the app also has the ability to warn customers against overspending before it actually takes place. And because customers can keep up and be notified via Watts if heat consumption suddenly goes up, they both learn about their consumption patterns and avoid unpleasant surprises."

At Aalborg Forsyning, one of the aims of Watts is to make customers more energy conscious and push them in a greener direction. Therefore, it is hoped that in the future customers will change their consumption habits and use less district heating for the benefit of the environment and wallet:

"In Aalborg Forsyning, it is important that customers are part of the green transition. Here Watts is an effective lever and a great step forward in communicating with customers about their electricity, heating and water consumption" says Lars Jensen.

Watts is continuously working on developing the app, and as part of the collaboration with Aalborg Forsyning, work is being done to further develop the app to also be able to show heat consumption for all the app's users in the long term.

You can read more about the collaboration in the March issue of Teknik &Environment magazine.
